it would probably help if you said which area you are in. There's plenty of cheap cars in Madrid for example, but that's not much use to you in malaga..

I'm near Valenecia but happy to travel. The last 'heap' offered was in Madrid.

then I might suggest Wallapop, milanuncios, Facebook marketplace or even some of the bigger pages such as coches.net.

I picked up a brand new opel for 13k, they had a car park full of px cars in the back, that might be an option too?

Used cars must now carry a 2 year warranty under the recent law changes.

That only applies to cars bought from professional dealers, private purchases still have to rely on 'hidden defects' which in many or most cases can be impossible to prove.

No, it only applies to dealers.

I doubt that any newcomer to Spain would be advised to buy privately.
