My father-in-law lives on his own in a small village called Cuevos san Marcos (no friends), and is desperately sick, we are flying to Malaga 10 Aug and need to get him urgently to an english speaking doctor. Any guidance or help would be much appreciated. Many thanks. Regards Matt Julius

welcome to the forum in less than ideal conditions I guess.

Is your father in law registered with the local Spanish health system? If he is then a good way forward would be to take someone along with you to interpret if his doctor doesn't speak some English.

I am not sure how you would proceed if he isn't but someone would have suggestions.

My father-in-law is registered with Spanish health care - and with a doctor in the village - but we know he does not speak english. We also do not have anybody who can translate. So pretty difficult all round, which is why are trying to have a back up plan for next week to just find an english speaking doctor who we can take him to. Any advice help appreciated. Regs M

Adndalucia has a telephone translation service for exactly what you are talking about. The idea is you phone them when in front of the doctor and pass the telephone back and fore, not ideal, but better than nothing>
