I know, not something I would have ever considered before but my circumstances don't make it possible to get over. Plus, at this time of the year there are very few long term rentals to choose from. I know the area I will be renting in and to be honest I rented previously after viewing but it still didn't prepare me for the day to reality of the neighbourhood. I would always advise to view and find out as much as you can before taking on a rental.

I'd be interested to know if you can find anywhere like that, not to mention incredibly surprised. For all of the things I like about Spain and its people, their love of dogs certainly isn't one of them.

Times are changing, when we first got a place in Spain some 8 years ago it was a big problem, these days we would struggle to find any dog mess, same place with just as many dogs but fines are now high and almost every one has a camera in there pocket so owner as more responsible

Heavy fines isn't a nationwide thing, is it? My partner and I were walking along the street once, and a woman was making eye contact with us and smiling as her dog just did its thing. It wasn't even a smile that suggested she knew it as wrong and didn't care, it was just pure obliviousness to how wrong it was. That situation stuck with me and heavily influenced my opinion, no doubt.
