Oh definately a surprise (it will be a BIG surprise when she sees how much weight I have put on lol). Cheapest I can get is 249 euros at the moment, but I think it will be worth it.
HI Pam, I'm crying, go for it, what's 240, a couple of meals out and a hair cut. I still miss my mum like mad bless her. Mums are worth every penny just ask Bennie I'm sure he will agree. You will just have to cut down on the pork pies and rolo's to recoup the money back:p:wub::wub: |

Love Sam Your right Sam, you don't know what you've got until it's not there any more. I often think "I'll just ring my mum and have a chat" then I think "oh, no phones where she is" so I have a walk around the garden and have a little chat with her there:) Many years ago she bought me a birdbath for the garden and I brought it to Spain with me, I love filling it with water everyday; I always think of my mum and I can see her face so clearly as I tip the water in. I'm sure all the little Spanish birds are thankful to her for buying it, otherwise they would not have somewhere to have a splash everyday that was out of reach from my very old and lazy cat who can not jump on to anything higher than a chair these days:D |

Good news for you then Jean :D:D We had Hollie (the one on the left) every weekend from when she was 6 weeks old. When she was 2 my sister gave us a weeks custody and we took her abroad on a kids skytours holiday every year for 4 years.
I have just noticed that you are going to Nantwich, so close and yet so far from us........you will know of a place called Biddulph ,thats where I come from. Are you coming over for just a couple of days..?? |

It was lovely having Hollie all to ourselves and we used to hate bringing her home and parting with her :( But we had quality time with her on holiday and used to love hearing her giggles from the pool, and she was great at the kids disco  |
Re: The Unhappy Thread
I have been really excited this week about going back to the Uk to surprise my mum for her birthday. Then we had some bad news this morning. Benny got a phone call to say his cousin has had a heart attack and died and the funeral is on Monday. So now we are both going back, me tomorrow and Benny on Sunday! Luckily we have two great friends and neighbours who are having our dog for us otherwise we wouldnt have been able to do it.

So sorry to hear your sad news that has altered your feelings about the trip back to UK. I know that you are travelling separately but will you be near to each other whilst over there? Good friends and neighbours are definitely a must at these times.
Sorry once again. Rosemary Our neighbours are very good friends and we are very lucky finding them in these still earlyish days over here. Thanks Rosemary and Crispy for your kind words. |

Re: The Unhappy Thread
Hi Sam,
Have only just caught up with this thread, and was so excited about your trip to see your Mum. I also think your nieces are beautiful  Then came the very sad news about Benny's cousin, which has obviously altered how you are feeling about your trip :( My deepest condolences to Benny and all his family. I'm sure your time with your Mum and family will be even more treasured now. Have safe journeys, both of you. Take very good care, Love from Sam xx |

Re: The Unhappy Thread
Hi Guys, thanks for all your kind words. Just thought I would have a quick peep from mums puter. I will let you all know about her reaction when I get home tomorrow.
In the mean time, OH went to the airport to check in at 5.20pm and is still there!!!! Hopefully he should be taking off in the next 20mins, but what a nightmare for him. Apparently the flight from Manchester to Faro was cancelled to go to Mexico to pick Thomson holiday makers up before the hurricane hits on Tuesday, so there wasnt a plane for him to go back on!! God knows what time he will get to bed tonight but the funeral is at 10.30 in the morning, he is going to be so tired. |
