We have Kanis. Not sure if that's a local thing or nationwide.

I'm obviously out of touch - never heard of them! I remember "los heavies"
(rock fans) and "los pijos" (yuppy types) Then you have names such as Poliganero, i.e. those who hang about the industrial estates in their supped up Seat Leons. Spanish TV calls Cristiano Ronaldo "everybody's favourite Poliganero" i.e. a Chav Then you have Freakies, which are young people who dress like Zapatero's daughters i.e. goths The pijos with their ridiculous accents, long floppy hair (for men) and their jumpers thrown over their shoulders. Think Ricardo Costa (look it up in Youtube to have a laugh, the accent is ridiculous) The campesinos or "los del pueblo" who are exactly that and may be looked down upon for the way they talk or for being simple/uncultured. And the Gitanos are a true tribe of course that need no introduction. Can't think of any others at the moment... |
