My point was OP should not assume when driving a van containing his own goods and chattels he will be immune to stop and search at the border.

I fully agree with you ! And he has to cross 2 borders.
I remember the episode where my rental car was stopped and searched for hours (Before Brexit) ... No fun !

I would not bet on that. They searched all the small vans and my 4X4 when I last travelled via Santander.

I believe there is a confusion here.
Customs agency is the agent specialised in clearing goods at the customs.
Customs office (officers) are the difficult, official GOV ones.
Not sure which one Alfonsocolli was referring to though.

I was referring to the companies here in the UK as they cannot help with my queries as they only deal with trade/bulk shipments

Saw this, it might be useful. You might get a paywall in which case clear cookies.

EXPLAINED: Which items are exempt from duty for Britons moving belongings to Spain?

Helps a bit, only issue i have now encountered is getting past the french customs in Calais. As it seems they will be asking for a customs transit clearance document. And cannot seem to find anyone that can assist me with that...

4 years ago I used YFT logistics and was very happy with their service, worth trying.

I'm still confused about what kind of documantation do I need to move my personal belongings (by myself) from the UK to Spain considering I'm an EU national (not British), care to share your findings?

Thanks

Re: UK to Spain customs clearance documents

Your nationality makes no difference with customs procedures. Residency (or not) does though.

I think I said it before but I would seriously consider taking the ferry from the UK to Spain and skipping France.

I won't be travelling through France, I'll take the ferry directly to Spain.

Like you Sandm4n
I'm not shipping it over, so not much use for me.
In reply to your other post, found nothing out yet, so like you, I'm in the dark.
Someone posted this link the other day on one of my posts, might come in handy and could be worth a try:

DLC thanks, am no longer going through France as managed to book a ferry to Spain for the 5th July with a cabin that allows dogs.
:)
Hence why initially I was going through France. Someone must have cancelled, so booked it. The link also helps. So thank you

A quick update, I've been in contact with the HMRC and been told that I don't need anything but a full packing list and TOR1:

Think that applies only if you're moving to the UK from an EU country Sandman.
The rules for entering Spain are different.
The following link explains all:
https://www.agenciatributaria.es/AEA...ormativo.shtml

Click on information leaflet, its in Spanish, however if you copy and paste into Google translate you'll see what I mean.

There is much more required for entering Spain I'm afraid
