UK osteopath moving to Costa del la luz

Hi there,

I love Conil and thinking of moving there with my partner next year.

I was wondering if there is enough demand for UK trained osteopath in the area.

Any experience?

Thanks for your reply.

Hola
This is a specialist area; I know of one lady that travels a couple of hours to Ronda to obtain the best treatment. But it will take time to build up a base of people; this is a poor area with very high unemployment.

Only as a guide, I live in Granada Province and use a local guy. Fully qualified with a really modern premises, he charges 25 euros an hour, which may be a deal breaker for you. Its worth bearing in mind that any business in traditional Spain CANNOT charge too much, the Spanish will simply boycott it and go elsewhere! They are quite ruthless like that and have no brand loyalty as such!!!! The British have also picked up on this and get the benefits as well!

A quick google and you can see if you would have competition in area Clinica de Fisioterapia, Osteopatía, Acupuntura en Conil de la Frontera y Vejer - Fisio Conil . It's only a small place, so don't know if another business would make sense and depends how busy/good these guys are? Also consider that it's not really a typical Expat area and will your Spanish be good enough?

You have to also look at the big picture you would have to pay autonomos (Self-employed NI) plus (I think) IVA on these services at 21 % so you need a huge customer base to make it pay. Plus all other usual overheads advertising, electricity etc etc
My Spanish lady friend is a chiropractor and finding these overheads too much to make it viable and she is based in a high-income area.

Yep the Spanish government just loves to screw over the small business owner to the point theres no point them carrying on , then those ****wits who run the show wonder why the Spanish economy is in such a mess .

Yes I have never understood why the Spanish government seems to deter self-employed from setting up a business with the highest contribution rates in Europe.
