I have just received an email re my government pension informing me that due to Brexit and pasporting re banking those living in EU may not be allowed UK banking for payment of pensions. So this confirms this will affect more than credit card accounts.

From the police pension administrators. It doesn't say you can't have a UK bank account it says to check with your bank. I have already spoken to my bank to work around the issue to the banks satisfaction.

Default Brexit Banking issues

Have been informed by a relative who works for First Direct that they are going to clamp down on non U.K resident accounts and will start closing accounts with no provable U.K address as of Jan 1st, anyone heard anything else or had any correspondence to this effect? Seems very recent ie meeting upon high within last few days.

Sounds like First Direct has taken the decision not to go for a licence to operate in the EU. All banks will have to make up their minds which way to jump very soon, if they haven't already.

Indeed and I read that, however the last post there was over 3 weeks ago, whereas my post is Bank Specific and current.

My most recent info from them was they would not be closing accounts. That was last week. HSBC is licenced in the EU so would not be restricted.

I have Just telephoned First Direct , The lady said that they haven't been informed about any changes to the information we had before and that are not going to stop Spanish residents accounts, she went away to double check with her supervisor and came back and said that was correct , so hopefully she's right..,.
