UK Bank Accounts after Brexit

Re: UK Bank Accounts after Brexit
I bank with Natwest. They cancelled my credit card some time ago but I still use their debit card which is fine for me.

It would be interesting to know if HSBC UK would then accept applications from Spanish residents who've been dropped by LLoyds and Barclays. I'd always understood that it was impossible for a non-UK resident to open a UK bank account.

Is that barclaycard account or Barclays current/savings account? I only have a debit card with my Barclays Account, no credit involved .

I opened my First Direct account probably over 25 years ago when I was a UK resident , the lady I spoke to on the phone said she knew other banks were closing accounts for non UK residents but she assured me First Direct wouldn't be doing that.

Specifically a credit card (barclaycard) although on the phone they intimated that's it's any account

Natwest and santander seem to be two banks that are staying with EU clients . Just been issued with a new Credit Card by NatWest .

Popping in from the Portugal forum.
We have a Barclays International account, (or whatever they call it now) based in Jersey. Guessing this won't be included? Not heard anything from them. Might give them a ring tomorrow.

We already had our letter from Lloyds a couple of weeks ago to say exactly this. I've had an account with them (initially TSB) for over 35 years. I'm just wondering why the rest of you are speculating - this is happening, and I can't be the only one to have received formal notification from the bank?
None, Bob. When hubby called them, they kindly offered to send us a cheque when the closed the account. If I walked into my Dutch bank with a cheque, they'd think I'd just arrived in my time machine from the 1800s - they aren't generally used on the mainland and not at all in the Netherlands.
I have however seen an option (a quick google showed there are many posts on Martin Lewis's website) with Ulsterbank who seem to be welcoming EU residents, so we will look into this option.

I'm quoting Red_Wine_Fairy as I'm also with Lloyds and have received no 'imminent closure' communications, checked my on-line message box earlier, nothing there either.

It was all over twitter, which is why I started a thread in Take it Outside. Many of those posting were UK citizens living withing the EU, and several had already had letters to say their accounts were being closed as they diidn't have UK addresses. If you have a UK address you will be OK, but everything will have to be done via that address.
