tv calibration and sound fix

Hi, I have just purchased a 43 inch 4K latest Hisense tv. The picture out of the box obviously needs calibration in addition the volume drops to almost mute when I plug in a usb and go onto headphones. I am using external speakers.
I am thinking of getting a tv guy in but finding one is easier said than done. alternatively I thought about buying a calibration disc but I have no idea whether they are any good.
The tv is all singing and dancing which is just far beyond my technical limitaions. I am in the Mijas area and would very much appreciate suggestions and recos please. TIA

Modern TVs should be perfectly set up straight out of the box. Some hardcore video enthusiasts might want to tweak them but they are the exception. It’s new - take it back and change it under warranty.

Agree with Fred, never had any of that nonsense with my new TVs (Samsung)

Many thanks guys, looks like I should return to Amazon. The picture out of the box was terrible so perhaps something is wrong. appreciate your opinions.

Could it be the connection with your satellite, antenna or other device? Are they compatible?
Does it have a built in digital tuner? are you still routing thru a decoder?
Troubleshoot everything before returning...
No matter the price, sorry, but I would never have such a sensitive device delivered thru the mail... Have you seen how these people handle items...

Hi, I have double checked all connections. sorry but I only understand what a digital tuner or decoder is, my tech knowledge is minimal. I go into settings where I have picture mode, brightness, colour, contrast, back lighting etc and adjust but ends up looking like a dogs breakfst. The tv was very well packaged with no rips or holes in the cardboard. There was excellent padding inside the box. I could purchase from say Media Market or other outlets but amazon comes out top on price. When tv`s are delivered to shops how are they treated by the delivery guys I wonder. I have always had Samsung in the past but Hisense has very good reviews and fantastic prices.

Depending on your pocket, I'd go for a tried & tested one.

Having said that, in 12 years we have had 2 Bang & Olufsen TV's. They're supposed to be the Rolls Royce of TV's, but the 2nd one lasted 5 years till something electronic went bang & the replacement would be €1100. Most TV's these days depend on the quality of the electronics, not always good!
So we decided no more.
Bought an LG 43" OLED from El Corte Ingles. The salesman said that LG were becoming better than Samsung; and LG seem to be the ones supplying TV's generally with chips and electronics.
I later bought a sound bar to hopefully get better sound.

for something as expensive as a TV I'd buy from a dealer rather than a discount store like Media Markt.

Amazon have always taken care with my deliveries. Returning goods to amazon is quick and simple too, and free. Exchanges are usually delivered quicker than normal.
I always buy Samsung products, tv, phone, tablet etc always good quality.

Re: tv calibration and sound fix

Hi again, The sound from playing 3 different makes of usb remains the same. I am thinking of sending tv back to amazon and getting a Samsung or LG. Very few new tvs have a 3.5 jack port to connect headphones. I dont want to have to buy bluetooth headphones so is there another means of connecting H/ phones with jack plug and without bluetooth. This will narrow my choice of tv. Many thanks

You can buy a cheap HDMI to 3.5mm jack easily on Ebay/Amazon.

Amazon will take it back with no hassle. Yes, buy a Samsung preferably bigger than 43". Their new Neo LEDs are very good. The Q-OLED is amazing.

hi Fred, Many thanks. So I can get a short lead with hdmi on one end and 3.5mm jack plug on the other and just plug hdmi end into tv, then connect headphone lead to the jack end and thats all there is to it.
Lounge is not really large enough, and seating not variable to have larger than 43 inches.
I like the look of the QOLED`s and prive isnt bad. Thanks jack

Re: tv calibration and sound fix

As far as screen size goes, always buy one size bigger than you think you need. Somehow it always seems to fit in when you try it! Most of the better TVs start at 55". If it really nis too big, send it back to Amazon and go back to a 43". Amazons biggest advantage over most online companies is their returns policy. I have frequently ordered 3 items in different sizes or colours, chosen one and sent the others back!
