Smile TRANSFER SERVICE TO NEW BANK ACCOUNT FOR DIRECT DEBITS

Hi All, Having just read an earlier thread regarding online banks I was extremely impressed by the "Wefferent" account by Caja Rural being all online and totally FREE. I've been wanting to dump BBVA bank for ages. Charges 160 euros pa. HOWEVER, Is it simple in Spain (as in the UK) to simply instruct your existing Bank to switch all one direct debits for utilities etc ? DOES ANYONE ACTUALLY KNOW? I guess if not, one would need to cancel all the existing ones with BBVA and then somehow instruct Caja Rural to replace them all entirely online. It just worries me it could all go Pete Tong and I find my water or electric disconnected when I next arrive.

ANY ADVICE / EXPERIENCE ?

Thanks

Keith

My wife uses the Wefferent account and is very happy with it she's used it for 2 years now without issue. A friend changed to Wefferent from a different bank and I seem to remember only awkward thing he found was he had to transfer his direct debits by re setting them up in Wefferent and cancelling with old bank.
