Thinking of making the move
Hello - the hubby and I are currently, very seriously, discussing taking early retirement and moving to Almeria in Spain, an area we fell in love after visiting 12 years ago. At the moment we're at the head's buzzing with lots of information, looking at places to rent/buy on line and generally just looking at one another going "are we serious" stage. We also have a friend planning to move out to the area in May
we have a dog and possibly a cat which will need to come with us eventually if not initially. We know we need to come out ourselves to put some clarity on a few things but due to other commitments this may not be until later this year and we know we need to get all of our financial information together. Does anyone have any suggestions as to what else we may need to do or can do in the meantime please? All information/suggestions gratefully received. Thanks Dee & Roy

Re: Thinking of making the move
Set yourself up with a Spanish bank account and transfer a regular monthly amount. This will be helpful when the time comes to prove to the authorities that you have a regular income.
Do research into private healthcare as you will need it. Look at what is required to gain an NIE number and ultimately your residencia card.
Check out the 90 day and 183 day rules.
Check out the Modelo 720 and the duel taxation agreement forms.
Learn as much Spanish as you can.
Do you need to check out schooling?
Are you planning to (try) get jobs here in Spain or will your private pensions be enough.
Don't forget that Brexit could change everything
