Go down the Chinese route and fine em for breeding more than a couple of brats, instead of encouraging them to breed and live on the benefits. ;)

I only left the UK 5 years ago, and I have had experience of agencies just before I left I popped in one or two just for a nosey, (I was touring the UK before leaving for Spain), only Manpower offered me a contract all the others were on a phone call basis, self employed.

If it's changed it's only been in the last 5 years.

You plonker, people without jobs don't "afford" kids, they are a turnkey to more and more benefits.
the more kids the bigger the house, the more the rent paid out by the gullible tax payer.
people in work have to budget, those who don't get all the free school lunches and milk vouchers.
Its a lifestyle, and they have support from the family who as I said earlier are all in the same situation. They even argue about the different rent for different properties, no one wants to be seen to be lagging behind on the amount of benefit they get.

well I shredded some 15yo pay slips last week from Adecco from when I temped after redundancy - and it included tax and NI.

self employed is a ploy they have to push you towards their "umbrella" company, tell you you can claim expenses for travel and lunch etc etc. On a normal office temp basis it doesn't work, and you can end up with a bite on the bum if they dont tax you right, which is quite common.

Ok R.sole I agree, with what you are saying, but that does not apply to all claimants, and now housing benefit has been or shotly will be capped at an amout befitting the local area.

It is a small step in the right direction, but I would hate for things to become as severe as in Spain for the claimants.

Hmmm it's only what I came across and my experience with them in my last year. Being in a trade that was well sought after by them (agencies), I used to love it when they said they had no work, then straight after they would ask what do you do anyway, then they were all out to get me, so I got their terms and conditions so to speak.

I refused to work for them, but loved to see them all over me when they knew my profession lol.

I was a wringer outer for a one armed window cleaner.

If it was an enjoyable job, I would still be doing it and not have spent years trying to make enough money to get out of it, my friend:D

why ?
just because it is the UK doesnt mean they can't learn from other countries.
there are too many "well meaning" people out there who are only too willing to maintain the status quo and keep them on the gravy train.

Its no use govt's saying they will get tough when all they do is cut back on the services and payments to the elderly, who are already being ostracised by the NHS as a drain on resources.

Social services and local councils want the elderly to pay out more for what they get, if it hasnt been cut, like bus services, libraries, social activities that keep the mind active even if the body is a bit shaky. It comes to us all in the end, but the active young mother is definitely active. I see them every morning when I go out to get my paper, when I cannot sit down on the bus because they have taken up all the seats with kids wiping their dirty shoes on the seats and prams blocking the access. They have been brought up with an attitude and its only a problem if you get in their way - your problem, and the language will be rich as well.

I was made redundant and registered with 6 agencies. They read my Cv and said "cor! no problem getting yuo a job!" Still waiting. Useless, only interested in the last person to walk in the door. Even when I saw a job advertised that was almost word for word my Cv and applied didnt get an interview in the agents letalone the client.

The BH had some success with agencies but when she decided to work in Spain told them all. One guy kept sending her emails for over 12m for temp work in the UK, just couldnt understand when she kept telling him so put a block on all emails from him and reported it as spam.

so they are all useless.......

I used to get phone calls at home in the evening after calling in, asking me to work before I had even signed up with them, unfortunately it was on their terms.

You ask why I would not like to see the same harsh rules in the UK as in Spain, well it is because often the treatment of the pensioners and unemployed here is inhuman.

You cannot compare the hardship of a pensioner of very modest means in the UK with their counterpart in Spain.

It may be bad in the UK for the poorer pensioners, but here it is a matter of surviving on a pittance, some as little as 420 odd euros a month.

I have sympathy for the pensioners in both countires who are trying to keep body and soul together, and would not like to see the UK pensioners brought down to what a lot of Spanish pensioner have to live on.
