Of course they know something, there again don't we all.

They know Spain is in deep sh!t, perhaps the deepest sh!t in all of Europe, so what better place to go and start a business based on low wages with little likelyhood of strikes and furthermore being able to dictate all their own terms and call all the shots just like Mrs Merkel.

Oh dear Stevie, don't give up the day job:rofl: Read about all those rich men investing in greece too. Do you realise that the stock market in Spain was 15900 a few years ago.............you made your fortune then:lol:

Who cares about a few years ago? It's now and the future people need to know about. A rise of 35% in the last 6 months (after a poor first half of 2012). Will that pattern be repeated in 2013?

There are going to be more and more positive stories coming out of Spain in 2013 and beyond. And the more you try and drown me the more I'll post... :p
Incidentally, take a guess at how big the ICT industry is already in Spain (and growing immensely each year). 15 billion, 30 billion, 37 billion....?

Yes we know you will post them, even twisting them around to look positive too:lol: Maybe you are right but you have come out with nothing substantial yet. When are you going to actually live your dream and get out of that run down area:lol:

Still got another 20-30% to go yet, prices still haven't touched bottom according to today's paper.
Same paper tells us Spanish emigration grew 21% last year, last one out please turn off the lights! Over 800,000 foreigners left as well.

well that means more space for the rest of us

perhaps the desires of some expats to make Spain a living copy of the UK will come to fruition and we will be able to get our extra benefits in the county of Iberia

Yes, but the absolute numbers of Spaniards leaving Spain is still low. And there are still 6 million more immigrants in Spain than there were 10 years ago

PROPERTY sales in Malaga have shown the first sign of improvement in four years.

http://www.theolivepress.es/spain-ne...ers-home-boom/

Sales have increased by 3.5% in the nine months to September compared to the same time last year.
Of course this may well be a temporary respite. I think a lot rests on whether the Spanish government grasps the nettle and presses ahead with the residency proposal (they may well increase the amount required from 160k Euros, which is a lot lower than either Ireland or Portugal, who have already introduced this).

The residency proposal would be a mere drop in the ocean

Sales will go down in the first part of this year because sales tax has just been put up from 4% to 10% again

On the other hand, prices are starting to become attractive in some areas. I've seen a few 2-3 bed flats with pool close to the beach for around 60k both in the North and on the Med Coast

As Pocaloca says, the people who are suffering are those who can no longer pay their mortgage and are not able to sell their property to recover their debt. But for the rest of us, dropping property prices is great news. For years we have been conned into thinking that high property prices is a good thing, it is only good for buy-to-let landlords and the banks

A flat in a Spanish city used to cost between one and two times the average salary in the city, and so they should! Most are small and pokey with few redeeming features. In 2-3 years perhaps we will see this again

Yes I think what you say will be a major consideration for those investing.

Stevie I also agree that any good news for Spain is exactly that as well "Good News".

Why do most threads just turn into a them and us situation re Spain and the UK ? The whole of Europe is in deep do do not all Countries will come out of this mess at the same rate and who knows what or when this will happen. Surely we all have an interest in any good points that come out for either. Petty bickering over rights, wrongs, £, Euro, is just that. I find it quite wearing to be honest. We as British Expats or Home owners in Spain have surely an interest in both UK and Spain prospering so that in the end we can live our little dream in some comfort hopefully.

... and if it stays that way, Spain could well be on its way to becoming a European powerhouse economy ...

... provided that the EU doesn't screw it all up with more anti-growth regulation.

I see that the ECB may be granted far-reaching powers by 2014. Technically, this is a good thing, but in practice, I'm worried that this will facilitate a lot of opportunity for political maneuvering from afar, without any accountability whatsoever.

Possibly to do with increasing taxes on house purchases in the new year - estate agents have been advertising along the lines of buy now, beat the VAT.
