Yes, JDR, I even put my washing out but suspect that another trip to the tumble dryer / laundry place next to the Paloma park petrol station awaits me...! (I have decided to buy a tumble dryer for the first time ever next winter, after years spent in England and Scotland without one, finally to buy one when living on the Costa del Sol, what irony!)

It's decided to stay a few weeks over England! Still very cold here (probably -5C at night, +4 in the daytime) but very nice even so in the sunshine.

We bought one a few years ago and it has been priceless this year for drying 6 peoples washing including a two and a three year old when needed.

I don't like it when people use them all the time, even when sunny, that seems a profligate waste of energy (just my opinion mind), but realise their value when it rains week in week out...

Never came - can't trust the weather forecasts really.

Perhaps you were somewhere else at the time.

The records for the airport show winds of 121kph on the 28th Feb.

They also show that it rained on 18 days out of 28 for the month of February - almost as much as Malaga:)

I suppose so, if you have children or get thru a lot of clothes. Like A/C it's something I want to steer clear of. My 'leccy bill is high enough without running something like that. So far the two of us manage by drying on the line between rainstorms, finishing off under the roofed area outside the back door, and then on a drier in front of the wood burner. So far so good.

A friend bought a timer, put his water heater on that to only come on between 5pm and 7am, wasa bit more careful with how he washed up and they slashed their bill from 70 a month down to 35 last month.

Is the power cheaper at night in Spain?

And for the Lost's information here is your weather for the next week:

dipped out again tomorrow but then a whole week without the displeasing rain!

I don't believe it!

A small bit of advice...

You seem to focus far to much on the negatives of your business - the rain and Galicias reputation. By denying so much, you're actually publicising. Galicia has so much more you could be shouting about.

A common mistake I see here in Spain from expats in business is to focus all their attention on denying the bad points (effectively lying - which they could be sued for) whilst they forget the very reasons they moved here in the first place. South, north, east, or west - it's a beautiful country. So much to sing about, so forget about trying to pretend it never rains. Forget trying to pretend that winter never happens. Just talk more loudly about the good stuff.

Hard to pretend here what with the roar from the arroyo audible from 1/4 of a mile, and the hammering from the neighbour who seems to be building a very, very big boat....... The animals are pretty noisy too....

Yes it's been very windy, howling through the roller shutters and it was rainy last month. but this month is feels like Spring is very close.

Alas no predicted hurricane.

I don't intend to go off topic mods, sorry if I do. I've to answer this question.
I read in another forum that they do have different tariffs for off peaks, I believe from 10pm to 8am where electricity is cheaper.

With it raining all day long, you really need to use the washer & dryer at off peak times to save money.

I’ve just walked the 200 yards to the rubbish container and got soaked, I couldn’t take the umbrella because the rubbish sack needed two hands. If it rains, we dry the washing on the terrace, right now it’s full up and there isn’t room left to sit on my favourite chair watching the rain fill up the swimming pool.

We did notice that the water bill is down for some reason.

Boy you are way off beam.
I have never said it never rains. What I do say…and you must read this clearly to understand ---it rains more in the part of Galicia you live in then where we live in. If you do not believe me have a look at these figs:
Santiago; http://www.aemet.es/en/elclima/datos...s?l=1428&k=gal
Ourense;
http://www.aemet.es/en/elclima/datos...?l=1690A&k=gal
I think they speak for them selves.
I fully appreciate why you are so cheesed off with the location you have chosen. So if you are fed up with the rain in your area then please do not barrack me for saying what is the truth.

I think your criticism of me and calling me a lair is astonishing and unwarranted.

I do not wish to talk about my business strategy on an open forum but you are again wide of the mark when you think I rely on the Brits coming to Galicia.

Your house looks amazing Casa Santo, who cares how much it rains, Galicia is so lovely. Let's face it, if someone really hated the rain they wouldn't choose to live there! I personally don't like constant rain (I lived on the west coast of Scotland for two years on an island, marvellous place but the rain slowly drove me crazy, each to their own and all that!) but love the effect that rain has on the landscape, the food (that delicious Galician beef and cheese!) and the way of life. Now what I really hate is WIND!

Yes, but only if you sign up for the off peak tariff (Discriminacion Horario)
which gives a reduction of about 50% between 10pm and 12am next day (in the winter - add one hour in the summer) with an increase in the peak rate of about 20%.

If you use timers on your water heating and use washing machine, dishwashers, pool pumps etc during the off peak periods the savings can be very significant.

It's true with Asturias too.

Parts of Asturias sees more rain than other parts. Where I live, it rains less than the other side...

For instance, Oviedo has had alot of snow, us just 30km, not a flake..
