Are there any Spanish detective novels you've read?

Are there any Spanish detective novels you've read?
I'm sure someone once mentioned a Catalan writer. I enjoy detective novels, and would like to try some Spanish ones (if any exist)

Detective novels aren't my thing, but this is an excellent site for reviews and opinions on books

I'm guessing detective stories would come under their section "Misterio, aventuras y negra"?

I think so.
Alternatively search one of the bookshop sites (casadellibro, FNAC etc) for detective type novels to get an idea of author names, then check the general index on that forum for opinions.

Nor mine, but one of the most famous crime writers was Manuel Vásquez Montalbán, ( he was catalan) with his private investigator Pepe Carvalho. He died a few years back, so it's fairly recent stuff. Just looked him up, and the series about Carvalho was translated into 24 languages, so quite popular!

The Pepe Carvalho books were made into books for Spanish learners at basic, intermediate and advanced levels. I read a couple of the books a few years ago. They were quite entertaining and very easy if I remember correctly!

"Una novela de barrio, de Francisco González Ledesma." A black thriller set in Barcelona with a lot about the decline of the traditional "barrio" and it´s replacement by new apartment blocks. Just about everyone ends up dead or in jail. Really enjoyed it though.

I write a page for The Inland Magazine - Bibliomaniac Page.
I include reviews on Spanish based books, they don't have to be very recent as I am trying to share good books with Expats who may not know them.
If anybody wants to write a review (max 150 words) and submit to me they are welcome - can't guarantee publication and can't pay.
Check out the mag here
