Tenerife - Booked it!
 

Well I am due, on 5th April, to fly to Tenerife for 6 months of mayhem!

Main aim of my travels is to get all my diving qualifications done whilst I am out there.

I have done quite a bit of preparation, and had the luxury of knowing a friend who lives out there already to help me get set-up etc...

Anyone else from here living out in Tenerife?

One question about my mobile phone. I am over there for 6 months, would I be best to just cancel my contract in the UK and get a new Sim card when I get there? Think my mobile is just about the very last thing I have to sort out

Possibly if your contract is an expensive one.
However you need to shop around when you get there, as there are huge variations in rates for both international and local calls.
I have a very low cost monthly contract in the UK, so I normally carry both.
I signed up to Happy Movil on-line before coming out and the charges are reasonable.
I forget now, but I think all I needed was my passport no.to confirm ID before fixing a pay as you go online.
They provide you with the card and info in the UK and it activates automatically with the first call in Spain.
Naturally you need an unblocked phone to do that.
