Very interesting,
There's also a Bono Social by Endesa but no one, even Spanish people seem to know what it is about. Trouble is I have a feeling that in order to get the special tariff they have to come round and inspect your meter and wiring, so it seems to be a con to get new meters and re-wiring done.

Is Bono Social the reduction for pensioners or is that something else?

Yes, it is only for pensioners and I think they may have to be in receipt of a Spanish pension.

It is also restricted to houses which are a permanent residence and which have a potencia of LESS than 3kw.

Not for us then ( 15kw and UK pension) but I would have thought it somehow breached EU rules if it is restricted to just Spanish pensioners even if the 3kw is accepted.

English pensioners are entitled but their income needs to be fairly low and it is unlikely that they would get it. I can´t remember what it needs to be but I think it is below 500 euros a month.

As I said, trying to get to the actual truth on this is, as usual, is nigh impossible.
I think it includes large families also but it does just say pensioners, not which nationality though and chiclangir is right about the low income.
I think it's a safe bet that many spanish pensioners live in houses with less than 3kw and with speaker wires for the mains (unearthed ) and there is a plot, sorry, plan to get these properties sorted out. I have to say it,s probably a good idea but then my nieghbours would argue that there has never been a fire here due to an electrical fault.

I know but I've been told there is more to it than they have put on that site.
They say they need ALL documentation, not sure if that includes a Boletin from an electrician or if you have to change your meter, which you have to pay them for doing.
Years ago you could easily just change the name on the bill for a small charge, now they come round to inspect the property first.
As with Telefonica, I don't trust Endesa, as with the now monthly bills.

I'm wondering if this is like the discounts for 'basura' & so on the pensionistas can get around here

all nationalities are entitled, but it has been reported that for non-spanish, so much documentaion is needed from the 'home' country, that the cost of getting it together out-weighs the discount!
