Telefonica ADSL wierdness
Had a call from their sales department trying to sell me adsl. They didn't realise I already had it with them.
During the course of the conversation I told her I was paying €39 + IVA for a 512 connection and she said that they are doing an offer of 6 Mb for €25 now, and I should take it up with TF. Anyone know about this? Cheers |

Re: Telefonica ADSL wierdness
yeah, depends where you are mitzy.
we were told we were on 3mb at same price as yours to discover that we were running way below 1mb, so they told us we'd get 3mb one day..... i'm more intrigued by the advert vodafone are now running on tv for a free router and adsl for 19.95 a month |
Re: Telefonica ADSL wierdness
I have true 3mbps but last week they updated the lines so i phoned them and they said I can get 6mb for 1 euro a month more. So far i havent got the extra speed.
I pay 40.99 plus iva. im in la nucia area. |
Re: Telefonica ADSL wierdness
They called me a couple of weeks ago and asked if I would like to upgrade to 10mb with Trio. I said that I would love to and let her go through the whole rigmarole but finally I had to tell her that the local technicians say I can't and, anyway, my ADSL goes off regularly after about 9pm so it would be totally useless for TV.
The €25 is probably only for three months then it will revert to the price that the rest of us are paying. |

Anyone know about this? Cheers After a lot of wrangling, and more mis-information, the sakes staff finally agreed that I could NOT get the higher speeds. Ironically, as soon as they said that, I started to get nearer 1Mb rather than 512! So, I'm in the campo, pay 39€, and get 1Mb (fairly consistently). I asked about the cheaper deals and was told that they were only available to NEW customers. I asked if I could cancel the service and then rejoin as a new customer, but was told I would then have to join the queue as the exchange was full.! |
Re: Telefonica ADSL wierdness
Sounds good Mitzy. I still can't get adsl though where I live. We have been told now that there is a chance to connect through another neighbours phone line but not holding my breath on that one. We've been waiting since June. Not even sure I want the connection now as I can use the townhall for free  It would cost us 66 euros a month to have adsl at home we haven't been offered any discounts other than 9.99 a month for the first 3
months if we sign up for a year. Don't even know if we will be here in a years time. |
Re: Telefonica ADSL wierdness
I didnt realise how backwards Spain was. My brother in the uk can get 8mbps for 17.99 a month, every month.
We will have to wait for the fibre optic lines. Then you will get some fast speeds. Spain are laying them already. |

We will have to wait for the fibre optic lines. Then you will get some fast speeds. Spain are laying them already. That's not necessarily a fair comparison. In the UK the actual speed can be only 25% of the rated speed and many ISPs have download caps in place, some of which are hidden from the user. This is well documented in the UK press and OFCOM are looking into it at the moment. In Spain, certainly with Telefonica, there are no restrictions and, unless you are in a rural area, the speed you get is usually near the maximum you are paying for. I get 2.8 all the time on a 3mb connection. If you want an uncapped connection at its rated speed in the UK you will probably end up paying much the same as in Spain. |
Re: Telefonica ADSL wierdness
I just called Telefonica & their only deals are 29e pcm for 1 mb, 41e for 6mb. Is 1 mb really slow? or can I live with it - I only listen to the radio online.
Also, did you know if you are away you can suspend your service for a max of 3 months in any 1 year, at 16e pcm. 24 hrs notice required via 1004. Cheers, hope it helps |

. The producers of the show are asking those who watch the programme to add their names to a protest about what is going on. Their argument was that if the contract says unlimited, that is what it must be. In most of the "unlimited" contracts however their is an escape clause, well hidden, that allows them to slow down the speed for that specific subscriber or simply make the service unavailable. |
