Telefonica ADSL Speed
 

I live in Sotogrande and we are having terrible problems with slow telefonica ADSL (past 10days) and Telefonica tech support say its the whole of andalucia. My Spanish is rubbish so dont know what the actual problem is or when they hope to fix it. Anyone have the same problems or know more info on what is actually the problem. Very difficult to get any work done at these speeds.

On another note if you need to call telefonica call 1004 and ask for English language and they will patch you through to and english speaker. Although tech support for ADSL wont be one of them.

Been to three clients (Marbella area) in last couple of days, all on Telefonica, none are experiencing anything different than the "to be expected" Telefonica experience. In fact I noticed that one client's router was only connecting at 0.5MB but was paying for 3MB so they rang up, complained and next day an engineer came out and replaced the router and now they are back to 3MB again

well, finally after talking to tech support again, they called me back this afternoon and said it should be better. If this means "fixed" im not sure but thats my fault for not paying more attention in spanish class. So now have better speeds, well enough that I should be able to get back to work!

Still not the 6MB im paying for...............

We're in the campo so should get a maximum of 1M - bit slower than that normally but recently a lot lower.

Getting 4.8MB on a 6MB line isn't too bad. 6MB are a theoretical maximum, not what you can expect as average.

It depends on a lot of factors, for example distance to the telephone hub from your house, time of day (at 4am in the morning it's likely to be faster), etc.

My parents went from a 5MB line to a 2MB line as due to the distance to the local hub they wouldn't get over 2MB anyway.

Thanks, I will give them a call, is the land line swapped over and you just get one bill from tele2 ?
