Tax on Private Pension
We currently live in Turkey, and have done for the last 6 years. We are now thinking of moving closer to Uk and family. My husband pays no income tax on his private pension from UK,as we are now on Turkish Tax system and they do not tax pensions.Could anyone tell me is the same will be applicable in Spain.

Re: Tax on Private Pension
Pensions are taxed in Spain if you become tax resident, the exception being UK government pensions are taxed only in the UK.
Private pensions are often in the form of an annuity and they are favourably taxed in Spain. Only a small percentage is declared, typically about 25% but the exact figure depends on the age you were when you started taking income from it.
The annuity income is classed as savings income and taxed initially at a lower rate than other pension income which is classed as earned income.

BE is a very large expat website, so if you have problems finding your way around we have concierges who will try to direct you. The moderators for the Spanish forums are Mitzyboy and Fred James, moderators are there to ensure that the site runs smoothly within the rules of BE. Problems and complaints should always be addressed to a moderador who will look into the matter and deal with it efficiently and fairly. Our members who post in the Spain Forums are friendly and helpful with a wealth of knowledge of the issues of living in Spain. At the top of the page you will find a quirkily named thread called Free Beer which is full of important and useful information. Hope you enjoy your time participating in the forums.
Please let me know if you need any further help.
