Taking car to Spain for 6 months
If I take my car to Spain and stay 5 months 29 days and then return to Spain with the car for another 4 months after 2 months back in UK, strictly speaking am I exceeding the 6 month rule.
To clarify, is the rule 6 months in any 12 month period eg If I go between July and December 2011 and then return between February and end of April 2012 - would I have exceeded the rule.

If your question is relating to insurance I would have thought the 6 months abroad would be related to the dates of the policy not the calendar
year
Not all policies give 6 months abroad. Have just renewed mine and it only covers 45 days This is not an issue for me

It is 6 months in one calendar year. That means that you would be free to use it as you suggest. It would of course have to have a valid UK MOT (if applicable) and have UK road tax and insurance cover.
