Sympathy anyone?

To me bullfighting sits right up there with badger baiting and fox hunting. I think a lot can be said about a man by the way he treats animals.
For this reason I have zero sympathy with these guys...

Zero sympathy and ROFLMFAO @ the 3 that were injured. It's not a sport, there's nothing brave about sticking spears into an animal to weaken it before it's taunted, tortured and killed in front of jeering sadists. This sick act is already banned in Cataluña....when will the rest of the country grow up?

"Being anti-bullfighting is to be anti-Spanish, because it means giving up "the very essence of our being Spanish." were the words of Esperanza Aguirre against those who defend animal rights and want an end to bullfighting."

I started a thread about this yesterday, I dont have the same anti-bullfighting thoughts like the majority who would here. I have been to a few in the past, and have also been invited to one in San Juan in Alicante in late June, I know its expensive but even the drinking from the Bota and understanding the whole process as a art not a sport.

I agree with that as I mentioned on the other thread, though seeing the tables turned as I watched it on TV, just for once I found it quite entertaining.:sneaky:

Andy you appall me - how can you call it "art", when it isn't even "sport"
:(

the EU is all for countries retaining their cultural history but bull baiting should be banned in the same way as cock fighting and bear baiting.

:fingerscrossed:

I am sorry you feel that way and I do understand both sides, I really do, If it was banned I would not be one protesting for it not to be, but probably sitting on the fence, however whilst it is not........I kind of do like it.

I went to Javea and did the bull running into the sea, I found it fun, the bull could have easily gored me, I had no experience other than a quick adrenalin rush.

I won't live to see it, but I guess that one day the famous fiestas will do away with the bull fighting bit, but keep the running in the streets in order to protect tourist revenues.

Btw the Catalans may have "banned" bull-fighting (in their propaganda war) but they've also made sure that Correbous (bull burning fiesta) continues - in fact they passed a law in 2010 to protect the "pastime". If anything that is worse in my opinion.

it's all part of the Spanish macho thing, which is why they name their Seat's after macho things and places i.e. Toledo, Alhambra, Leon, Alta

I will never understand how people take pleasure from watching heinous acts, commited on anyone or anything, and finding it "entertaining"!
