Suspicious PayPal activity?
On two occasions in the past week I've gone to buy something via the internet using Paypal. On both occasions (separate companies) when I've been forwarded to Paypal for payment and entered my email address, password and then the CC I want to use and clicked 'next', another page has appeared headed "Create new password" and I'm asked to enter a new password and to select two security questions and appropriate answers. At this point I've become suspicious and quit the process.
On both occasions, the websites begin https://www.paypal.com and the pages have the word 'secure' plus a gold padlock. As I've never had this 'new password' etc happen until recently I'm wondering if anyone knows if this is okay or if it's happened to anyone out there? Thanks. BTW, the first time it happened about a week ago, I contacted PayPal via their website to ask their advice, but so far no reply. |

Re: Suspicious PayPal activity?
The Paypal address ..when you click on takes you to Paypal. and gives your email address in a box at the top of the page.. I was able to answer the security questions and get a new password..

To get back into your PayPal account, you'll need to create a new password. [/QUOTE] Thanks for that, but I don't understand why it's apparently necessary to create a new password to access the account. A password should remain constant unless it's been hacked in some way or me as the account holder decides to change it. To repeat, I don't understand why I'm being directed to a page which requires me to change my password and enter other security information. |

Re: Suspicious PayPal activity?
Access your account via ebay (follow any link) that way you will know. It seems they have increased security somewhat. I have ordered from ebay a couple times this week and when you got to the paypal page that you enter your password, it seems once is not enough, there are now two confirmation pages follow that first one!

BTW, just tried to access my PayPal account using the new password I had to change to when purchasing via eBay and it wasn't recognised, nor was I asked for the 2 security questions I'd updated, but I was asked for my original ones when I set the PayPal account up. Anyway I've now been direct to the PayPal site and changed the password....again! All seems very odd. Thanks again. |

Thanks for that, appreciated. Yes, but the confirmation pages required a new password and new security questions and answers which I find odd. Not just confirmation of my existing one. Surely that's not going to be the case every time?

Keep a close eye on the credit card linked to the paypal account, in case of any unusual activity such as loads of dosh being moved from it.
