Default Starlink on offer

For those living outside of areas with fiber coverage, Starlink have an offer at the moment to buy the equipment for 'just' 199 with a 'bargain' monthly fee of 65. Absurd pricing but I would actually pay it if I didn't have a decent connection. The major benefit is you can switch it on and off as you please so could be good for the part timers. In my area they are only suggesting speeds of around 100Mbps. Not sure how real that figure is but I've seen it running at around 300 Mbps a few km away.

There is also a rental option which costs 9 per month, but then you're stuck on a contract.

Starlink would be a last option for me. Some areas without fibre access can get a good 4g signal so a cheaper options I'd guess would be an unlimited data only sim and sim router. A reliable connection giving 10mb/s or above should cover your streaming needs, you don't need super fast fibre to watch TV.

I agree. I work from home a lot so finding a fiber enabled area was top of the list when house hunting. Mobile connections aren't stable enough for work purposes. My best guess is they're aiming at picking up extra customers who must have the latest thing, even if it's not as good as the alternative. It's a tried and tested strategy of Musk.

No fibre here so we rely on 4G. We get 10 Meg but during ad breaks, rush hours and schools out etc we get buffering when streaming tv.

Telefonica is pledged to give 100% FTTH by 2025. They are currently at about 85%. They are closing all copper exchanges next year. We are in the Campo and get 960Mb/s all the time.

Yes, and the usual Speedtest.net. The TV is on WiFi and that gets over 500mb/s. If we go into town we get about 700mb/s on the mobile. Spain is way ahead of the rest of Europe.

I pay Movistar for 600MB and get about 250MB on a full fibre service. Certainly a lot better than my family in the UK gets.

I was also amazed when I was in the back of beyond in deepest Extremadura - 5G coverage no problem.

Well, if I need more I can connect by cable rather than WiFi. The main advantage of having a 1gb connection is that using range extenders etc I can get a useable signal anywhere in the house and garden.
