Spouse Visa
Does anyone have any experience of getting a spouse Visa for a husband or wife from outside europe ?
Would like some information on how difficult it was. Thinking of getting a Spanish Solicitor to help Thanks Daniel |

Yes done all that twice. I personally would not use a Spanish Solicitor. I would and have used an immigration specialist (just a one man band) they tend to know everyone at the immigration department.It can be a bit of an overwhelming job. There is a lot of paperwork that needs to be signed and stamped. I used a specialist in the country she was coming from to get all the docs and visa. Then once in Spain I used a local specialist to get the residency.What nationality is the person and which country are they coming from? What nationality are you and are you a Spain resident?Usually I would start with your own Embassy website located in Spain.

Sometimes one needs to be careful posting advice. There is always someone who knows better. Any advice I post is only from experience. I am not an expert.You will probably need to be resident in Spain. I am, so it was not an issue for me. You could use the same local specialist for that if you wanted. Where in Spain are you going to be resident?

I know and thank you. Murcia. Trouble is I've had bad experiences in the Philippines regarding finances etc. Hard to know who to trust

Ok Murcia, I know someone who can do everything this end, she is a South African living in Alicante, well switched on and not expensive.Re Philippines, were you married there? Maybe a trip to the Spain Consulate for her (assuming it is a her) and ask if they can recommend anyone, or highjack a Philippine there doing a Spain visa application.

We are not married yet but been together 6 years. I would marry her in the Philippines before applying. Would I need to become a Spanish citizen to apply. Or just nie and register address open bank etc

You would probably need to marry her. You do not need to be Spanish citizen but would be wise to be Spain resident, which means registered on the foreigners register including NIE and maybe a good idea to register on Padron, you could use your parents Spanish address. Good idea to open Spanish bank account and stick some money in it if you have any, keep drawing out and putting it back in as if it was income and expenditure.
What is she going to do in Spain so she does not get bored to death? |

She will be applying for a different type of visa this time.There is an awful lot of different opinions about proving financial stability and wealth for residency purposes. It can vary from office to office and half the time I think the immigration officer best guess’s it. Who is going to keep 16K in a non interest paying bank account? I just showed a bank statement showing money in and out, plus UK credit card statements with 16K credit available and a UK share dealing account statement that might as well been in double Dutch.

Because I told them my income would be coming from UK. They just want to know you can afford to support them. Though 16K wouldn't last 4 people long. Please can you give me the details of the lady who helped you. She should know what funds I will need etc

I should have added, just take as much crap as you can put together including the kitchen sink, every tax rebate you have ever had and your school reports.
