Spanish Radio
Hi peeps,
We listen to radio Flaixbac usually which is really good as far as the choonz are concerned but we need to hear a bit more Spanish spoken. Can anyone recommend any Spanish stations that also broadcast over the net? We need to get used to listening to discussions etc.
Ta! :-)

Re: Spanish Radio
Try the Spanish state radio station RNE3. It's mostly a music station but they have a lot of the spoken word too, biographies of music artists etc between tracks. They speak really clearly so always understandable. In the afternoons they broadcast in depth interviews with artists who may be on tour in Spain, more often than not in English with a Spanish translator, so you can test/check your powers of understanding (and those of the translator!)!

Sound idea. It pays to hear as much Spanish as possible.

Try downloading a sound recorder (freecorder.com is the one I have) - you can record the streaming audio direct to mp3 then listen again to understand more.
Lots of the radio stations also do podcasts.
www.rne.es is the national radio, as mentioned above R3 is music - R5 is the news/talk channel. Beware, one of them, R4 I think, is in Catalan.
www.CandenaSer.es is also v good for news and chat

Take your choice from the list to be found here:
http://www.listenlive.eu/spain.html
I would suggest Radio Exterior de España as the presentation is a little less rapid and more pronounced.

Re: Spanish Radio
Spanish talk radio is all about 'tertulias' where the moderator and a few other (usually well-known voices) serve up a spirited arguement about something topical. These shows are interrupted by the news and some advertising.
The main stations that do this are - from the left to the right, the Ser, Onda Cero and COPE.
I work at COPE and, lemme tell you, it's right!

Re: Spanish Radio
COPE (and the Catholic church in general) is currently the subject of a witch-hunt by the PSOE government.
The most left wing radio station of all is the omnipresent Canal Sur radio which is the mouthpiece of the Junta de Andalucían and is nothing more than a propaganda machine for Chaves.

Re: Spanish Radio
I think the recent case involving La COPE was related to comments about a member of the PP, not the PSOE.

Re: Spanish Radio
In Andalucía, our boy Chaves is giving all the licences to the Ser (same group as Canal Plus, El País, Localia, El Cuatro TV, and many others, all heavily backing the PSOE). Our particular station is one of the last ones standing. The govt. doesn't like the COPE either and has had two audiences with the Pope so far trying to get the Church to dump the broadcaster. I'm not saying it's great, mind...

Re: Spanish Radio
I wanted to mention the Santillana publisher which prints school books with the appropriate bits of re-written history added.
Get 'em young, I always say.
