This property "boom" has been going on for 14 years. By the law of averages the market is bound to take a hit at one time or another. Property is an investment, but its also your home. You say you want to hang on to it for a couple of decades ... its a long term investment and whos to say what the market will be then?

But its the same as any investment. If you invested your money in stocks and shares your investments could shrink and grow at alarming rates also. You only have to look back over the last 20 years!

If you were looking at a short term investment I'd say cop out now and maybe rent. But you're not, and although I have no crystal ball I can tell you that one of the main reasons I'm here now is because of profits on property over the last 26 years, and that was after two "crashes"

Tim Horton: You're right about the ramifications of a crash for economy ...... the building industry is a big part of GNP apparantly now, and if that stops because of lack of demand then it will cause problems

Crashes happen in the UK property market every so often as well, but then they pick up and forge ahead, last UK crash was only really a drop in price increase rate for a few months. Only people who should worry are those buying as an investment, not those buying as a home.

Again property is all about location location location
I love you comment about the forthcoming decrease of 25 - 30% in prices over the next few years had me rolling about me chair ........what you talking about Ice Cream

Never seen it in my lifetime & I started in the property game in the 60's

Think that they are probably scaremongering to get people to keep their money in UK.

The whole of Spain is not expensive though and Galicia is still gaining ,can't get any lower than this have a look www.galiciavista.com

The good thing about any slump is that it will get rid of all the sharks who are out there waiting to snatch your hand off

The Spanish paper that I read has said in today's edition that those large developers on the bolsa have gone up by 0.75% at close of play yesterday

It's nearly as much fun when that dickhead Gordon buffon Brown sold off the gold reserves of the U.K. all he did because of his lack of any brains & knowledge was cause a sharp drop in the price of gold
If he had dribbled the reserves out slowly nothing would have happened, and now look at what it has cost the country what a prat he is

Talking about the Spanish problems i have this feeling in me water !! And nope its not the dodgy Real Ale But i reckon the UK is about to get hit with a slump i am seeing the signs .. So i am fingers crossed i get my place sold pretty quick before it happens

Also unless your into Spanish property purely for profits ? does it really matter !! As it will climb back anyways eventually ..

Hi,

Interest rates would need to be around 7.5% for the UK to start having problems. Also take into account, the UK builds less houses than it needs.
