Fruit and veg prices on retail markets are ridiculously low in Italy and Spain is still able to export to Italy. With nearly everything at €1 kilo there cant be much profit in farming.

I know nothing about farming etc . However, everytime someone starts thinking about moving to spain and needs an income I think: How is your Spanish? Imagine a reverse situation: spanish move to Scotland and plan to start a honey business. It's a reasonable idea but if they had even the most basic of English their business would probably fail. You need to compete in a market place. That means you need to as skilled as your competitors. If you are constantly relying on translators for simple management affairs your income will suffer. I know English people here running AirBnb who spend half their time at their lawyers just asking about what bank and utilities letters mean.
