It\s best to trust the official site for updates: Spain Travel Health (spth.gob.es)

My gfs parents go from Portsmouth to Bilbao on the ferry on Monday. People who have had their vaccinations don’t have to isolate on return to the UK.

Yes they all received their jabs in England. These Covid restrictions are an absolute sham.

>> But only if you were vaccinated byNHS<<

That's not correct. It just has to be approved vaccines with supporting documentation/app.

Have you got a link for that? Travel to England from another country during coronavirus (COVID-19) - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk) still reads: From 4am, Monday 19 July, the government will no longer recommend against travel to amber list countries. People covered by the amber list rules, who have been fully vaccinated under the UK vaccination programme, will not need to quarantine on arrival in England or take a COVID-19 test on day 8.

Spain are accepting the UK dcumentation I haven't seen anything reciprocal.

Wait until next week..it's supposed to be under negotiation at the moment by No.10 and EU.

What they are very quiet about unfortunately is that you still have to have a negative PCR test result no older than 72 hours, and then have to take a second PCR test on day 2 in UK.

Have you got any sources for the part about a PCR test prior to arrival?

Sorry to sound pedantic but that's not what I'm reading from the official sources I posted above. I'm flying to the UK next week and as far as I'm aware I only need the antigen test up to 72 hours prior to arrival. Then I would need PCR tests for days 2 and 8 and isolate for 10 days as I was not vaccinated in the UK. I'm staying less than 24 hours so don't actually need to book the tests. Someone vaccinated in the UK would avoid the day 8 test and not need to isolate.
To enter Spain, I need nothing as I have the vaccine certificate. That would be the same for UK double vaccinated travellers. Those not fully vaccinated need a PCR or LAMP test.

Under the new rules isolation is not required, but, a test prior to entry and then again on day 2 is required, even if you are "fully" vaccinated. This will apply to EU visitors according to the plans announced by Grant Shapps.
I agree the information is very unclear online. I have only picked this up from discussions on the radio as I'm also wanting to visit UK for urgent family reasons and still awaiting clarification before final planning.
Boris is supposed to be sorting this out with EU to allow reciprocal travel.
I would not trust a Lateral Flow or self test anyway, even though it might be accepted, but somehow you have to prove it at the border and the PCR is less likely to cause problems.

It was £210 for the day 2 and 8 test previously which had to be booked in advance. Not seen anything yet about this new 2 day regime.

Just keep checking the gov.uk site is all I can recommend.

It is correct. I keep checking the rules to leave Italy and travel back to the UK and I keep seeing this:From 4am, Monday 19 July, the government will no longer recommend against travel to amber list countries.

People covered by the amber list rules, who have been fully vaccinated under the UK vaccination programme, will not need to quarantine on arrival in England or take a COVID-19 test on day 8 after arrival.

Take a coronavirus test before you travel to England

You must have proof of a negative coronavirus (COVID-19) test to travel to England.

You must take a test even if:
You must take the test in the 3 days before the service on which you will arrive in England departs.

Type of test

You must make sure that the test provider you choose can meet the standards for pre-departure testing.

The test must meet performance standards of ≥97% specificity, ≥80% sensitivity at viral loads above 100,000 copies/ml.

This could include tests such as:
  • a nucleic acid test, including a polymerase chain reaction (PCR) test or derivative technologies, including loop-mediated isothermal amplification (LAMP) tests
  • an antigen test, such as a test from a lateral flow device
It’s your responsibility to ensure the test meets the minimum standards for sensitivity, specificity and viral load details. You must check with your test provider that it meets those standards.

You may not be able to travel if the test does not meet these standards. It’s your responsibility to ensure you get the right test that meets the above requirements.

Information that the test result must include

Your test result must be in either English, French or Spanish. Translations will not be accepted.

You must provide the original test result notification. It must include the following information:
  • your name, which should match the name on your travel documents
  • your date of birth or age
  • the result of the test
  • the date the test sample was collected or received by the test provider
  • the name of the test provider and their contact details
  • confirmation of the device used for the test, or that the test was a PCR test
If the test result does not include this information you may not be able to board, and may not be able to travel to England. If you arrive without a test result that includes this information, you might have to pay a £500 fine.

TODAY it is correct perhaps...like I have mentioned, travel for EU and EU vaccinated persons is being negotiated.

Grant Shapps, the travel minister indicated on TIMES RADIO that this was the goal in order to simplify the rules for everyone including EU visitors.

Yes you did mention that, but you also said that "It just has to be approved vaccines with supporting documentation/app." and that bit isn't correct yet .... not until if and when the rules change. Let's hope these negotiations move on swiftly and with positive results for those of us vaccinated in EU and not by the NHS.

People not vaccinated by NHS program still have to isolate on return to UK. The UK may well be having talks about the EU certificate- but as of this moment if you were not vaccinated in UK you will need a 10 day quarantine irrespective of any documents you may have received in EU This the current law and the other poster is wrong to suggest that you dont need to quarantine
