Spain May Go Back in Time
The AP reports that the Spanish parliament is considering a proposal to move the country’s clocks back one hour, to put it on British time:

P. D. The natural time in Spain is the same that in the UK, Ireland and Portugal. Franco wanted to dock it at the same time with Germany for his sympathy with the Nazi regime, so mistakenly we have the same time of Central Europe

Re: Spain May Go Back in Time
For me should be the other way round, UK should move a hour ahead, better for all.
Since living here though, I have found it better as I am now up and about an hour before people I deal with in the UK which is better for my business, but other things like say 'Im a Celeb' tonight is on at 10pm here which is really quite late if you want to be up early on a Monday.
I do prefer the sun going down later than in the UK though, Darkness in UK but still light here is good

Yes I prefer Spanish time. Light at 7am but I am still in bed. Far better an extra hour in the evening.

I don't know the programme, but judging by the title it sounds like the sort of dross I'd go out of my way to avoid! But the number of threads on these forums about UK TV leads me to think the majority can't live without the puerile pap that they put out.

Personally I hate football, but apart from watching paint dry or listening to the OH talking to me I think I'd sooner go for the football rather than celeb Paint comes 2nd!!

Well we are all different, I like Darts and F1 too, but Taylor and Vettel winning today made me think I cant be bothered, I should have done a double but the price would be carp.
Its something different.
To be fair I actually have watched a lot of Spanish channels since I been here, caught up with some films on Paramount and I don't mind the documentry/investigations but they seem obsessed with drugs, brothels and street prostitution, and taxis, I like it but I don't think it could go down to well with lorry driver wives, lol
Im a radio guy anyway, sport and Hollyoaks, a bit of Nat Geo and that kind of thing and some big brother and Im a celeb, but it does not rule my life

Summertime hours were tried one Winter in the UK a while back, but a combination of complaints, such as Parents worried about their kids going to school in the dark and Scottish farmers having to tend their livestock in the dark lead to it being dropped as I recall.
For retired expats in Spain it shouldn't make a happorth of difference. It's the same hours in the day and they can surely adjust their routine to match.
I was thinking of asking Rajoy for an extra hour at each end of the day.
He'd likely promise to do it and introduce an extra daylight tax and once it was paid suddenly realize he couldn't deliver.
Best solution of course for those who can afford it and are able, is to Winter in the Southern Hemisphere.
Next best within easy reach is probably the Western Canaries, although the hours aren't great, the much more reasonable night-time temperatures makes Winter months much less noticeable.

Re: Spain May Go Back in Time
not sure if Spain actually has the whatevers to go back in time, after all what time ??
I have been trying to get contractors to do some work on a house for me, but they either don't turn up to survey the job, or when (on the rare occaision) they do turn up disappear without giving a price. One I even drove to the property and 4 weeks later still haven't had a price, even after asking his wife about it.
ok, everyone on BE is now laughing their socks off - what did i expect ??
but if El Crisis is still with us surely they should be only too pleased to provide a price for a week's work
perhaps Spain needs to go back in time to the days when work was work and the money came in handy.
