Hi

I have been offered a job in Gib and am in the process of negotiating the salary. If anyone could help me understand the financial difference of living in Gib or Spain I would be very grateful!!!!

Main questions are?

1/ I keep getting told that I'll be better off tax wise in Gib that in the UK, but when I look at the tax calculators I work it out to be more, very confused. The advise is from reliable sources, ie people working in Gib at the company I could be working at?

2/ is the Social insurance capped? and if I live in Spain do I have to pay it?

3/ Healthcare - as a British passport holder do I get FULL medical cover in either Gib of Spain (think not???) Anyone recommend any health insurance covers? How much should I expect to pay for 2 adults and 1 child?

4/ I know the cost of living in Gib is high, whats it like in the commutable areas in Spain?

5/ Can anyone recommend any areas in Spain to live commutable to Gib? Would like a nice Spanish town?

rents in spain (10 min walk to the border) are 1/2 or even a 1/3 of what they are in gib. i had a friend living and working on gib. she was paying 900 pounds a month for a studio. she moved to a 2 bed apartment in la linea for 400 a month. big difference.

food alot cheaper in spain. get "luxuries" in gib.

dont know about rates etc. dont think renters pay them.

fuel cheaper (a little bit) in gib. i´ll be filling up tomorrow lol. (28 quid to fill mine)
