The Spain BritExpat cyber DIAMOND JUBILEE STREET PARTY
Ok I'm popping up all over the forum this week trying to get BE'ers in the Jubilee spirit.
So, lets get out the bunting, the red, white and blue tablecloths, plates, suspect cakes and sandwiches with the union theme, and lets flash our patriotic avatars!!! Join in the BE Diamond Jubilee street party here.
What food are your bringing?
What music shall we stick on?
Who's bringing the booze?

You may have picked the wrong forum Anyway I shall start. I will bring a Victoria sponge cake iced with the Union flag plus some coronation chicken dainty sandwiches with the crusts off. Music all the classical ones from the Proms and later 50's music (whatever it was).

I'm bringing the hash and whisky.... oh and if you're not into that sort of thing I'd stay away from the mushroom stroganoff, brownies and home made M&M's.

Acquired taste. Endorsement available from 10yo.
Scones subject to dodgy Smeg oven.
Lemony cinnamon flapjack (tested and approved for local taste by 10yo's friends)
Antique Union Jack, linen, available for hire, nothing's for the love of it these days

For the Red White & Blue (Sounding american here) But, slices of baguette (WHITE) with Cabrales cheese (Blue) and tomato (Red) topped with crushed walnuts and honey. Drizzle one side of baguette slice with Olive Oil and put under the grill, when crispy rub with garlic clove then top as above, serve warm if poss.
For music anything seriously patriotic from Land of my Fathers to the Fields of Athenry (We are a United Kingdom after all) also anything Scottish and followed up with Land of Hope & Glory with all the flags waving. If you have youngsters I suppose some heavy Bass rap cr@p.
For Drink anything red white or blue alcopop/cocktail as long as it is drunk in the right order. To be drunk in excessive quantities until everyone is either your Brother, Sister or bestest friend there ever was. And so to Bed.
Personally cucmber sandwiches, a small beer or 3, and a set of ear defenders. PERFECTION.
