Default Social clubs for the young at heart ?

Hi, Does anyone know of a club or social gathering that caters for the ageing population anywhere near the Los Pacos region of Fuengirola. I am writing to find any information for my brother who is suffering from mild dementia (he's only 66) but who loves to go to the bars everyday. Sadly, he does not have much real company and I fear that his lonliness is contributing to his condition. I must add, that he does not drink too much - he goes out more than anything for something to do. Any replies or suggestions would be most welcome. Kindest regards

Answering my own question, http://worldu3a.org/resources/u3a-fuengirola.htm

The group up here has a lot of social activities as opposed to only courses .. walking, trips etc

Thank you so much. I have looked at their website but regretably, my brother would not have the mental capacity to deal with such matters as he gets a bit agitated sometimes. He really needs somewhere where he can make friends and go for a drink or meal with them. Thanks again.

Perhaps if you went round to some of the bars he visits and explain his situation they might be a little more accommodating when he visits or have some local ideas.

Hi harbour,
If he went to Sorrentos in los pacos about 6pm, always on a friday but several other times during the week at about that time, there is a growing group of brits who socialise there, it starts as two people and after a while there are 25 people, it is great. The ring leader is the unofficial Lord Mayor of Los Pacos Trevor from Burnley (apparently he is a dolphin trainer), a good laugh and a good conversation always. All ages from 35 to 70 so far

If he wants to meet older people he should go to the Bell and Bottle (los Boliches), Maggie who does Granaoke, attracts loads of older people, who then socialise together.

If he goes to Moo Moos in los boliches he will find loads of people to chat with.If he can do a quiz that is good too.

Bar one is a good one for a natter on calle Francisco Cano in Los Boliches.

Fads are still in operation, The Fuengirola and district society, they have social events, usually aimed at his age group.

There is no need to be lonely in this area.

regards
AL

Yes, thats why I gave you the link. Although U3A is a learning group, they also do a lot of social stuff, i.e drinks and meals
