Default Small van load from London to Granada... advice please

Hi forum

I've recently moved from London to Granada, where I am now based.

I have a small van-load of possessions in storage back in London, that I now need to move out here.

I'd like advice on the following two questions:

* Is there a place to hire a small/medium van out here that will allow it to be driven to the UK? (Most the van hire places seem to limit the countries where the van can be driven quite heavily)

* Does anybody have suggestions of inexpensive man-with-van options to do the job for me?

All general advice much appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi. Have never used this company but saw their van at Plymouth when arriving from Santander a few years ago and made a note. They do one way van hire and seem to specialise in UK to/from Spain. They are called J-hire Ltd. Put that name in your search engine and it will take you to their web site. I just tried it to make sure they are still around. Perhaps some else may have used them and can tell you of their experience.

I did it this way...

Bought an old SWB Transit 2.5D on ebay for about €400. Insured it and drove down to Granada mostly on toll free roads over Three days - nice and slow. Slept in the van.

On arrival, cancelled the insurance (10 day waiver - nothing to pay). Then, sold the van to a scrap yard for €300.

It was cheap. It was a fun adventure. Brought a few things of other peoples' also to cover diesel costs.

Just as convenient as hiring if you know what to look for when buying cheap vans.
