Sky TV

Hi everyone, I know its been covered before, but cant find the thread. After moving to Spain four weeks ago, getting priorities out of the way-buying a car , getting on line and setting our sky box up,we have a message on screen telling us that we have a problem with our Sky viewing card and to ring a 08442 number.
Ive got a English mobile and can use Skype, but im worried what questions they might ask as I might give the wrong answers.

Thanks in advance

The questions they ask will depend on what message is being show on your screen.

(There are quite a few error messages that can show - so if you are a bit more specific then maybe we can ghelp without you actually phoning sly!) - there is a problem with your viewing card can mean that you have put it into the slot upside down or the wrong way around, or it just needs a wipe on your troosers to clear some static away.

They will ask the usual security questions to make sure you are the owner of the sky account, (sky card account address, passwords) probably the system details (from services 4, 5)

Thanks Guy,
The message to be exact is 'there is a problem with your viewing card call 08442414141 for assistance'.
Ive tried to reboot and clean viewing card with no success
Cheers

Toss it and get Canal Digital which has dozens of channels and a handy button which puts English-language shows in English.
You can also practice your Spanish with the local news channels.
Also, being legal, there won't be the worry of losing it...

Yes, but, will you still be able to get Desperate Housewives, House, 24, Modern Family and the soaps. No, didn´t think so, will stick with Sky.

You can get House, Desperate Housewifes, used to get 24, Modern Family never heard of (Family Guy?) Simpsons, V, CSI (all 3 of them) Dr who... endless stuff, all in English. Fox, Foxcrime, Sony,
News - Sky, BBC World, CNN, Fox, France 24, Al jazeera, MSNBC, Bloomberg, plus TVE International and CNN+. Late night free porn (just saying... it's not dubbed although 'arrgh' is the same in any language). Several film channels. Endless sports. Discovery with Jeremy Clarkson and LA Ink, Nat Geo...

Naa - you're right. I can pay for my own Canal Digital. Try the local dealer - or stick with Sky. Or buy a DVD and rent.
Whaddo I care?

Modern Family is the best comedy to come out of the States for years. Written by Frasier writers. Hilarious.

I'll look around for it. I always loved Frasier.
On Canal Satelite, they have 'Big Bang' (on TNT) which is very good. They also have a 'Paramount Comedy' channel which is pretty much all Spanish or Catalan sitcoms - dreadful!!

Around here most people are only interested in BBC and ITV and can only get those with 2.4 metre satellite dishes, or through a rebroadcaster. They don’t want to fiddle about with proxy servers, and their PCs, and the rebroadcasters only charge 20 Euros a month for the soaps, football and umpteen film channels.

One rebroadcaster was shut down by the police and the 98,000 subscribers just moved to the one that took his place.

A few people got those ugly, giant dishes, and some are even situated precariously on small terraces, taking up all the space. But at least they all know who killed Archie.
