if you're looking for something a little more upmarket, there's a shop in Avda Ausias March near the fountain roundabout - its name escapes me atm but I've bought things there - good quality & less expensive than you'd expect
also Borja in the port in Jaime I & Cestería Roig not far from McDs & Don Dino in Avda Furs ( I think it's that road)
and Zailand - on the corner of Historiador Palau near Mercadona in the town

The Shanghai Shite Shops should be avoided. They're full of shite. Both the port and old town have good shops.

Wherever you decide to lay your head - research research and then rent as against investing capital which might not be realisable or returnable in the future. Normally capital comes around once. My advice and yes after living in France and if possible is to retain a bolt hole in the UK.
