aha at long last a man of my own heart. we live in the campo inland of alicante but its not without the usual crime ie burgleries etc
when i go out i have peace of mind knowing my dog is doing his job and protecting my property. apart from having dogs for companionship etc, they also serve a purpose in other fields.

I love my dangerous dog to bits, he fell in the swimming pool the other day and we both nearly drowned. I’ve now got a line of rocks along the deep end so he doesn’t fall in.
When I take him out, he’s got a muzzle, and he’s insured up to the eyeballs, and he’s as gentle as a lamb, he loves kids and people in general, apart from burglars.

i hand reared my "dangerous dog" from 2 days old, and hes just the same, adores kids, and visitors, but is very protective of me and the gate!
i muzzle mine too when i take him out. but i cant see the point in keeping him in an enclosed area so he cant do his job...if i did, i would be left wide open for thieves etc. if a stray hand is put in my gate be it to pet him or gain entry then hell slap it into them!

There have been lots of stories of dangerous dogs being child friendly and loving them so much that they tried to eat them.
A dog is a dog and will never change, they are pack hunters and feeders and should never be trusted as part of the family.

A good example is this story [link] in the news today. Briefly, A woman has told how she accidentally left her grandson in her burning house as she rescued her beloved dogs

I’m trying to picture a rational scenario involving rescuing my wife or dog from a burning house, but I can’t.
(I actually can, but I’m not posting it on an internet forum in case I get hate mail).
