Cheers. Is the palace worth a visit?

Looks like it is still going to be 30 plus in the day, is that normal temps for this time of year? (not that I'm complaining, we like hot weather!)

We usually take the open top bus tour wherever we go to give ourselves an idea of the place. You may get a reduction if you have proof of age. We use the 65 card. The centre of Sevilla is beautiful so just wander round the streets, call into the cathedral, have a coffee, tapa and feel the wonderful atmosphere of the city. We enjoyed the boat trip too. Have a great time.

Yes, worth a visit. Like any city it can be oppressively hot in Seville.

The above is in the Spanish Gardens where they have a long row of tiled images for each province of Spain.

We're also thinking of visiting Seville, although tbh have been thinking of it for a long time. Really ought to get around to doing it. Being only a few hours away we'll drive there. Can anybody recommend a midrange hotel in a good location from which to walk out and explore which also has car parking.

Easy comfortable walk to the city centre, Underground parking. Great views from the roof terrace which has a pool and bar.

Bookings.com has the filters for Sevilla , by city area, parking etc . We tend to opt for NH chain, good sensible, reliable, nothing exceptional. Although last time there Rey Alfonso X - a classic

I often find that the parking filter doesn't actually mean that the hotel itself has parking, merely that there is parking nearby.

Novotel Sevilla

Avenida Eduardo Dato 71

41005
SEVILLE
SPAIN
We always stay here.
Next door to the Sevilla fc stadium, easy to get to from the A92 motorway, secure underground car park, pets welcome, loads of bars/cafes.

Although not in the center of town there is a metro station close by and loads of buses. It's around a 20min walk to the cathedral.

We stayed at the Hotel Becquer in Seville. Mid-range, underground carpark, swimming pool on the roof with fantastic views and a bar. Right near the 'modern' end of Seville with department stores etc and a short tram ride or ten minute walk from the cathedral, Alcazar, Plaza Espanol etc etc.

Absolutely. It impressed me more than all the other places. I think it is the longest permanently used palace in Europe. If you liked the Alhambra you will love it. The architecture is similar and the interior is particularly good as it has not faded like the Alhambra.

Thanks for the hotel suggestions. No excuse not to plan a visit now.

Re: Seville - top 5 things to see and do??

Just got back from 5 amazing days in sunny Seville. We stayed at the Hotel Becquer too and would definitely recommend it, we walked everywhere but did on average 15km a day so lots of walking!

Top things for me were.
The Cathedral - if you are physically able, climb to the top of the bell tower for amazing views of the city
The Palace Alcazar - queues were massive in the morning, less so in the afternoon, if you want to avoid the queues completely book online before you go and you can walk straight in
Plaza de Espana
Maria Luisa park - big, beautiful and shady
Wander the streets of Triana

It is a beautiful city and in between visits to the attractions we just ambled the streets, stopping for a drink and people watched. Found eating and drinking out, very reasonably priced too. Tapas, tapas and more tapas....oh and sangria. 30 degrees plus every day and warm enough in the evenings to sit outside to eat and stroll around in a little summer dress with no need for jumpers and jackets. If you haven't already been, go, you will not be disappointed.
