Default selling our Spanish Car!! anyone help?

we initially lived in Malaga until 18 months ago
and nearly Bought a house and while it was going through
we bought a car. one thing led to another and now we LIve in PORTUGAL
and are very happy..

except we now have a Spanish car and really we should get Rid or Matriculate!

I think the work and costs of Matriculation might be too much so we are interested in selling our Ford Escort 1.8 deisel from 1999.

so we can start again and buy a Portuguese car to avoid the funny looks we are still getting.

are there any dealers out there who will just buy cars without exchange or anything?

its not worth millions but i wouldn,t know where to Start
we live in Central Portugal and would be willing to drive it to Spain and take a train back?

anyone got any advice

Why don´t you put it up for sale in the classifieds section ? Or put it on Ebay.

Hi Paulnsoo.

Check out the process of importing the car to Pt.

You are allowed to import a car from another EU country without paying import duties, if you have owned it for more than 6 months.

Obviously the process is normal S European, but why throw money away by selling just to get rid.

Go to the Customs (Afandegas) to get the paperwork; for Tomar it's in Peniche. Sorry, not sure about yours. Hope this helps.

If you do sell it just make sure the transfer paperwork gets done otherwise you will be responsible for car tax, speeding fines and parking tickets etc for ever more.
