Schools in Marbella

Hi everyone. I am new on this forum. I am thinking to move in Marbella or around Marbella with my 8 years old son at the end of July. How does the educational system works there? What do I have to do to enroll him in a school? Is there any Ofstead reports like in UK? Can I for example live 5km away from Marbella and enroll him on a school in Marbella? And also, what documents will I need to enroll him? Many thanks!

Re: Schools in Marbella

There are three main type of school ranging from private to concertado (half-and-half and mostly run by the church) and state schools.

To get your children into school there seems to be some debate. For us we had to be on the padron and have residency. We then went to the educational department at our local town hall, filled in the forms and we were later assigned a school.

Your child will also have to have had a medical to show that their inoculations are up to date (there are some extra ones here).

There is nothing like ofstead here so your best bet is to find what schools there are and then ask for recommendations.
