Default Satellite TV now a human right !

Two tenants in Sweden took their government to court after they were evicted by their landlord in a dispute over a dish.
The couple installed one of the dishes on their rented property but the landlord ordered them to take it down. They refused and were later thrown out of the property.
But European judges ruled that the Swedish government had failed in its obligation to protect the couple’s right to receive information. It found that satellite dishes come under Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights.

so it would appear having a satellite tv system is a human right, the landlord cannot stop you from having one and the local planning authority cannot stop you from any restrictions such as view or size

the uk had a planning restriction where dishes were not allowed to be fitted to chimney's only to side walls. So it looks like all of that has now gone out of the window.

try explaining that to all those who cannot even have freedom or fresh water as a human right

This is the usual thing of left not knowing what right is doing!!!

Although the EU Human Rights say "everyone can have a dish", other EU laws on dishes say they can be refused if they look out of place or cannot be installed discretely!

And note the article says its a requirement under Human Rights to get news and information. So if they cant have a dish, get a terrestrial aerial and get the news and information from that instead...

And for expats, its confusing, as for news and information BBC World and Sky News International provide that for free on an 80cm satellite dish. So it does not mean everyone and anyone has the right to have a big dish!

isnt the Eurozone full of lefts and rights not knowing what to do ?
they know they are built on a string of sovereign states but then impose an over-riding ruling on them all to "smooth the way"

I would assume a Human Rights requirement will over-ride any other planning considerations. In this Swedish instance it has over-ridden the rights of the owner\landlord to decree tenants will not fit sat dish to the fabric of the building (quite reasonable IMHO). In this instance the tenants have now moved on, in any other court it would have lapsed but not in Human Rights.

in the uk Trevor Phillips of the Human Rights quango has said it is to enable to allow people access to religion - always we refer back to that catch-all.

as a tv engineer you are well aware of the damage that can be done to the fabric of a building with mounting holes (inexpertly drilled) and cable feeds (holes not sealed, cables no fitted in swan neck,) resulting in leaking roofs and damp in walls.
