I was just about to get it myself ,when I finally got a decent signal from Rural Internet,...may be worth checking out.
It simply uses a small dish or squarial to pick up the signal from the transmitter, but generally needs line of sight.
The two main sat companies are Astra 2 connect and Tooway.
As I recall the connection cost incl.equipment was about 7 or 8 hundred euros back then.
However if your friend is a permanent resident and unable to get internet by any other means,he should qualify for a govt.grant which I believe is in the region of 400 euros as far as I can remember,....thats if they haven't cut it due to the recession.

Prices here are 300 euros to buy the kit then 24 euros/month for 2Meg internet.

In towns, this figure is 15 euros.

Hi,

I've currently got a satellite installed for sky and would like internet.

There is no broadband installed in my area at the minute, is it possible to do this some other way?

Satellite is about €350 for the "kit" then the monthly fees are €45 for a 1mb connection.

Does your friend live in Manilva village?

Do they have views of Estepona? If so I may be able to get them connected to our system.

That's expensive, as said before, costs here are about 24€ for 2Mb connection (two local companies charge about the same so it's not a one-off).
