Satellite dish tripod stand

Hi,

Do anyone know where we can get a satellite dish tripod for a dish with a diameter of 120cm in Spain? We live close to Jerez in Cadiz province.

Thanks

Hi Madforfishing.

You are very unlikely to get what you are looking for. I have been in Spain for 12 years and not have seen any thing like you request, Off the shelf i mean.

You will need something made.

Sorry i cant offer any more help.

Kindest regards,

Carl.

Hi.

The one shown in the link will not be suitable for a 1.2m dish.

Try asking a local fabricator to make one for you.

Regards,

Carl.

Here's a quote from the ad

"This tripod is so stable that it is suitable for dishes up to 1.2m"

I would be very much inclined to agree with Dougle unless you need something portable.

Well that is what he asked for, rather than a patio mount

Re: Satellite dish tripod stand

In most places sat dishes are measured across the face of the dish horizontally. This applied to all dishes, including the "prime focus" dishes, the oval off set dishes, and yes, the one or two totally circular dishes.

But NO. Not in Spain! Some installers and suppliers sell the dishes by mentioning the largest measurement of the dish, and not the official measuremnt of the dish.

This is why there is so much confusion about dish sizes.

There is a dish that measures 1.25(w) and 1.35(h). Officailly it is a 1.25m dish, but some installers (mainly in Spain) sell it as a 1.35m dish. The thinking being it sounds like you are getting more dish for your money.

Similarly, the Portuguese dishes are actually 1.80m. Not 1.9m. The official invoice and fact sheets actually say the dish is 1.79m.

From the dish manufactures factsheet:

Outside diameter: 1940mm x 1940mm
Reflector diameter: 1790mm x 1790mm

Why do poeple say 1.9m? This is the size of the whole dish including the surrounding rim. The official measurement is the reflector of the dish only - excluding the outer rim. This is how dishes are measured and sold across the world...only in Spain do these extra measurements come into play! Why?
Again, a saying a 1.9m dish sounds like you are getiing more dish for your money than a 1.8m dish.

to the OP:
If you know where to look for them you can find them. I try always to have one in stock just incase someone at the local campsites has issues or forgets them.
Is this what you want?

It may be a bit "flimsey" but if pegged properly, or put in a sheltered place, or supported and tied down it should be OK for a 120m dish. I know they work on 1m dishes, with a bit of adaption / bodging / precision engineering.
available from http://www.tdtprofesional.com/catalo...g-25-1964.html
they are in Malaga (is that close enoght to you?) , but they also do deliveries / postage.

Failing that, hows about going to a music shop and looking at the speaker stands (that professionals use). I use one of these should I need to have a dish up for display and testing...very useful

Top post Guy. It's so annoying when you ask for advice on a forum only to be bombarded by salesmen!

Thanks

We have a ex-installer in Chiclana who came highly recommended he knows what he is doing and used to get called in to resolve a lot of others installers cock ups.

If you are confident about doing it yourself all well and good but if not you might like to have a word with him as he covers your area.

His phone number is 679 195 027 and he's called Steve.
