Sat reception question
 

Yesterday our sat reception stopped working. "No satellite signal". I checked the signal via the box and nothing registered. I tried the second box, same result. I've stuck a simple signal tester on the line at the lnb and it's squeaking away as it usually does when I've aligned it. I've twiddled it and checked for spiders, wasps etc. no signal. I ran a temporary line - nothing. So I'm thinking there's a problem with the LNB. But, would a signal tester showing a good signal be any indicator as to whether the lnb is working? Anyway to confirm it's the lnb before I shell out for a new one?

Have you changed the default transponder frequency?
This helps the Sky box boot up.
If you are using 12129 as a frequency, then from Thursday, the lone channel on this frequency, S4C, was moved. And so this frequency no longer carries any information to help the box boot.
Use another frequency - like 12207, or 12051,or any other frequency you know you can receive!

The sky box signal test only shows one frequency out of the 106 used.
This frequency is 11778.
Even on 2.4m dishes during the afternoon this frequency can be unavailable.
So using the sky box signal screen can be a bit unreliable.

If your beeper suggests a signal, then normally LNB and cabling is OK.

Thursday huh? I think this might be my problem - timing's about right and I do use 12129! Should have asked you first before I spent the afternoon on a ladder twiddling an lnb. Better ways to spend the time!

The Guy mentioned S4C has moved from frequency 12129. I'm desperately trying to find it and would appreciate help - I'm in Germany, by the way. Where did it go to?

It is still on Sky channels 134 (or 104)
It is still on Freesat channel 120 (or 104)

If you have any other type of box then rescan frequency 12051 v 27.5 2/3 as that is S4Cs new frequency.
