Default San Fermin, Pamplona - are you going?

I suppose no-one here will be, it's the wrong demographic group. But apparently parts of London notice a lack of young Australians for a while at this time of year.

Yes but in the case of that actual bull run the bulls always win!

Until they get in the ring later.

I doubt very much they look on it that way and would most likely much prefer being back in their pasture contentedly grazing.

Probably, but they have had five years to do that in the most perfect grazing conditions that you could imagine.

Their lesser brethren, you know - the ones that you can buy sliced up in Mercadona, only have a year to enjoy far worse conditions.

If it was me I know which option I would take.

I am not condoning "bullfighting" but it does give these bulls a better existence for the majority of their lives and we shouldn't ignore that.

Absolutely

Bull fighting bulls have the best life that such an animal could ever have

Meat and dairy animals have a much shorter and less pleasurable experience

And of course if we didnt fight or eat these animals then there wouldnt be any, or certainly wouldnt be many, maybe just a few in national parks

The anti-bull fighting argument sounds very childish at times

Not a fan myself, but the sight of Fran and Cayetano in their little beaded numbers and pink socks, really is a sight for sore eyes.

I think it's generally accepted there would be no toros de lidia grazing contently in it's pasture without the corrida, the bulls are good for fighting but not a lot else.

Like you, not condoning it either, and people can argue the manner of their death, but it's 15 minutes at the end of four or five years of an extremely pampered, idyllic life. It's the life I too would choose, even including the final chapter.

Without wishing to start yet another bull-fighting discussion, it's good to see that even Spanish public opinion has overall continually moved against this abhorrent practice in recent years.

Anyone who understands a little about them will know that they generally live in a contented state of peace and harmony with other so-called fighting bulls in natural surroundings.

It is only the sad intervention of humans placing the nervous creatures in an unfamiliar hostile environment that spurs them into taking what little action they can as a self protective measure.

What makes you think they live peacefully before their death. has no one seen them being prodded and poked by wannabe bullfighters. There is no excuse for such a barbaric display when they are slipping and sliding down those streets...pathetic

Well the fiesta has started with the traditional chupinazo. The streets looked absolutely packed with revellers - has anyone told Angela ?
