San Fermin 2013

Here again, as per every July. Judging by the sheer numbers in the streets on clips it's as popular as ever. I've heard people predicting the demise of bull-fighting since the 70s, but I suspect an event like this will continue for a very long time. I suspect a few people will watch and hope the bulls get their own back.

I have no idea why people taunting and abusing a frightened, exhausted animal is considered fun.

However sometimes the result is quite amusing:)

Has bull running had it's day!

Take away the hype written by Hemingway and turned into a film it would probably be just a few local taking part.

Re: San Fermin 2013

I'd agree that Hemingway has made the Pamplona fiesta world-famous. A friend of mine there told me that the hotel room he stayed in fetches several thousand euros per night during San Fermin! It's also the case that the nationalists love to turn up and wave their flags at this time.
I can't see this fiesta ever diminishing - even if they eventually do away with the bull fights in the ring. It's too much of a money generator - and too big a lure for young (and old) heads wanting a slightly dangerous challenge coupled with wild drinking and partying.

An article from someone who obviously disapproves strongly of the event. It's provoked a lot of comments too.

Just a shame they bother picking the idiots up and waste time and money treating them in hospital.

Why not leave the bulls to finish the job and help improve the human gene pool ?
