Saloufest

Rioting in London because they can't afford a University education.

Rioting in Salou because they can afford the flights and loads of booze.

Nice to see they've got their priorities right:thumbup:

Rioting in London ,Yes, and the thugs and anarchists responsible deserve to face the full force of the law and a few other unpleasantries as well.

Rioting in Salou, No, despite the DM trying to make it appear so.
OK many of them were rat-assed eejits, but not one major incident reported or one official complaint and only four treated for the affects of alcohol, so as a last resort the DM concentrates on one single alleged incident of rape from the previous year.
This has been going on for quite a few years, yet the local authorities and hoteliers still appear happy to let it continue,so it can't be all that bad.
The fact that there are large numbers together obviously makes it appear worse than it is, whilst the DM photographers no doubt went to a great deal of trouble to get shots of the Union Jack shorts, although there were youngsters from many different countries all joining in doing much the same thing.

Saloufest has been in the news every year, if the locals are offended they should put pressure on the authorities to stop staging it.

Nice thought, it would be nice to think the locals could dictate what the council can and cannot do. I can't see the council stopping it, it's a huge money spinner for them. A quiet time of the year, and thousands of students filling the hotels, drinking huge amounts of booze, I think it's there to stay.;) I'm sure there are many thousands of locals that dread the Notting Hill Carnival, that would love to stop it, but it won't happen. But agree with with the OP when students are pleading poverty, these festivals, gap years etc show no signs of stopping. Bank of Mum & Dad I guess.
