Sailing Kite surfing lessons??
 

Hi

My friend and his teenage son are arriving for a few days for a visit, (from 6/4) and to keep him busy during the day we were wondering if there are sailing lessons anywhere relatively nearby.

Alternatively:-

Also perhaps Kite surfing (or wind surfing), that is so popular around us. I remember on the 125 out of VRSA there is a 'shack' on the right a bit after Pingo's which advertises this. Does anybody know anything about this place (or somewhere else - please?)

There is a kite surfing school on the beach at Isla Cristina - just to the east of the beach restos and car park. It's certainly there in the summer but don't know when they start up after Easter.
There is also a pop-up school near Sonrisa but it doesn't always seem to be there - come and goes according to the weather?
There is a lot of kite surfing at Isla Canela but not sure if there is a school there too.

You could also try karting at Cartaya - tell him Fernando Alonso raced there!

Thanks Mike - I made a typo in the original post, but you saw that. I'll check those places out...

I've4 seen the KITE surfers at IC - but cant picture a school anywhere ... maybe someone will post.

They set up in front of the Sonrisa but they weren't there a couple of weeks ago. It might be worth a drive down there over Easter ,things do tend to start operating from then onwards
It could be worth a look @ the other end of the beach, I'm sure there is a surfing school there ,I have seen wet suits & boards outside the Chiringuito Paradise Beach before

Good idea we will drive around during the Semana and see if they are setting up along the beach. Good that our friends are coming after Easter

They one at Isla Cristina does seem to be a bit more permanent - they have a shack on the beach. I think they also do wind-surfing.
If you want to go a bit further afield there used to be a sailing school at Punta Umbria.

It is called the Kanela Sailing School ,trip advisor has a review & contact details ,it is tucked away so if you can't find it try asking in the paradise.
The Paradise is well worth a beer or coffee anyway

Just to say that there will be the Andalucía Cup of Laser class sailing on the 20th - 22nd March at Marina Isla Canela.

There is definitly a sailing school out of the Naval Club at VRSTO but I don't know eligibility and I think a similar one for Ayamonte but don't know the location of that one but seems to be around Punta Moral.

The sailing club at VRSTO is for youger children. There is an excellent kite surfing school in Cabanas near Tavira Eolis Kitesurfing School.

And if your friends fancy trying a bit of sub-aqua diving then just along from Cabanas you can find UDiving at the Hotel Albacora, Tavira udiving/pt/en/

You might think it's a bit chilly this time of year but they rent 7mm semi-dry suits which are toasty ;)
