Sabadell Oliva
Do any members bank at this branch? My son has an account at Valencia but their customer service is a joke,I've heard the Oliva manager is very helpful and my son would like to transfer his account there,but true to Sabadell form nobody seems to know the managers email address.Just a bit of info for anybody thinking of opening a non res account with them,my son had the best part of 12 thousand euros on deposit with them this last year,but with their creative commissions he actually lost money:sneaky:

I had an account with them Dave for most of the time we lived in Spain, and I found them very helpful. Theres an account executive type person on the right as you go through the doors, and if you have problems with anything they are the people to see. Sometimes theres a small queue, but more often than not you get seen quickly. In fact when we joined we were given a business card with the phone and email address of the person who we could contact for help.
I'm not sure about non res accounts, but with one of their accounts you pay no charges as such (a monthly fee) but you get cash back on payments and other perks which outweigh the charge. You do have to have a regular income paid in. Out of the three banks I went with whilst in Spain, they were definitely the better of them - the on line banking is very good as well, as I tended to avoid actually going into the bank http://oficinas.bankimia.com/oficina...o170759-bk3646 |

We are with Sabadell and have no problems. When our accounts were opened we were in UK and they sent our Debit Cards and PIN number to us, however, my wife didn't receive her PIN number. Also, the format of the UK address was wrong and fortunately the Postcode did it's job. When we arrived in Spain we went to our local Branch, we had not made a prior appointment which is something they like you to do if you need to speak to a 'personal banker'. However, we briefly explained the issues, within five minutes my wife had been issued with a new 'PIN' number and they had changed our UK address details on their computer to the correct format. When I went in a couple of weeks later to make a cash deposit into the account, the lady bank teller spoke excellent English, was very friendly and even passed the time of day in polite conversation whilst the transaction was being processed, excellent service even if I am paying small quarterly commissions on the account.

We have banked there for the last 5 years - our 5th bank in 10 years in Spain. They are the best by a mile in our experience.2 people stand out as extremely helpful:
Victor - [email protected] Sandra - (real name Alejandra) - [email protected] Victor spends most of his time at the cash till but answers emails very well in English on any routine matters.Sandra is of a higher stature I believe and is excellent in all areas of account management and investment - again in fluent English. |

They are (by spanish bank standards) quite helpful - one or 2 of them speak some english. I have had no real problems with them. Their online banking is very good, one of the best sites I have used. I should add I don't visit the branch very often.

It's strange, maybe things have changed, but the only thing Solbank / Sabadell ever charged me for was paying in a cheque. On line transfers were always free and indeed it was a good system. I agree on interest rates though, they were crap at most of the banks. Having said that in the UK they are even crapper!!! You cant get a rate anywhere, other than Santander ... and they have just increased their monthly fees! |

This might give someone a smile for Xmas.This is a Twitter message sent to my son by Sabadell
"Hi, you can get your money in cash if you go in person to the branch, or you can do a transfer for the rest of the amount you need to transfer the money back and leave the account at zero balance. If not, due to you have an standard account, there is a maintenance fee that must be paid quarterly. Your branch has already confirmed us that they will not charge you the total amount of this fee (15 euros), but they will charge only the 10 cents that you have on the account. After that, the account will be closed. ^ED" Yes they did suggest standing in line to withdraw 10 cents and the fact that to transfer the 10 cents online costs a little over 2 euros which would leave the account overdrawn without the zero balance necessary to close it.Maybe the Xmas drinking had started early. :rofl: |
